Grow to Give: Little Hands, Big Actions at Happy Days Afterschoolers!

This week marked an exciting milestone in our SICAP Grow to Give Initiative, as the children from Happy Days Afterschoolers rolled up their sleeves and planted their very first batch of vegetables!

With buckets of enthusiasm (and a little mud on their boots!), the children prepared the soil themselves before getting to work planting garlic, red and yellow shallots, and cheerful primroses to brighten the garden with a splash of spring colour.

Even the rain couldn’t dampen their spirits — if anything, it added to the adventure! Laughter, teamwork, and plenty of curiosity filled the garden as the children learned where food comes from and how small actions can make a big difference.

This hands-on activity is part of our ongoing commitment to encouraging community involvement, healthy habits, and environmental awareness among young people. The Grow to Give Initiative helps children not only learn practical gardening skills but also understand the joy of giving back as the produce they grow will support local community needs.

We’re incredibly proud of their hard work and can’t wait to watch their garden — and their confidence — continue to grow!

🌧️🌱 Rain or shine, our young gardeners are making a difference!
