This year Cavan County Local Development (Breffni Integrated) marks 30 years of community engagement and impact, one story stands out as a powerful reflection of its ongoing commitment to families, early learning, and social inclusion across County Cavan.
At the heart of this milestone is the Parent Child Plus Early Learning Initiative—a pilot project that is already transforming lives.
A Project Rooted in Early Intervention and Lasting Change
Coordinated by Anne Crowe and delivered in partnership with home visitor Amanda Cafferke, this two-year pilot programme supports families with children aged 18 months to 3.5 years—a critical stage in early childhood development.
The programme is built on a simple but impactful model:
Weekly home visits, conducted twice per week
One visit focused on introducing a book or toy, modelling communication and learning techniques
A follow-up visit to reinforce learning, building confidence for both parent and child
This consistent, structured approach supports:

Smooth transitions into preschool and formal education

Now completing its first year, the pilot has already delivered tangible results within a small cohort of ten families.
