About the Programme

ParentChild+ supports parents and caregivers of children aged 1½ and 2½ years, helping them nurture their child’s love of learning and prepare for school through play, reading, and shared activities. Trained Home Visitors deliver two half-hour sessions per week in the family home during the school term. All books and toys used are gifted to families, encouraging continued learning between visits.

Learning Through Play

The programme builds confidence, communication, and curiosity — the building blocks of lifelong learning. The Programme sees parents as their first and best teacher, and parents learn fun, practical ways to engage with their child, strengthening bonds and promoting early literacy, numeracy skills, and social and emotional development and much more! Small moments of positive interactions and play make a big difference in a child’s life.

Supporting Families, Building Community

ParentChild+ reflects CCLD’s commitment to education, equality, and inclusion across County Cavan. By empowering families to make learning part of everyday life, CCLD helps build stronger, more connected communities — creating equal possibilities from the start.
