Cavan County Local Development (CCLD), through the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP), recently supported the delivery of accredited Security Training leading to the 3-Year Security Licence. This initiative has helped local participants take a meaningful step towards employment in a growing sector.
For those taking part, the training represented more than a qualification. It provided practical skills, confidence and a clear pathway into work — particularly for individuals who had experienced barriers to employment. Participants completed training aligned with Private Security Authority (PSA) requirements, covering areas such as professional conduct, conflict management, legal responsibilities, and health and safety.
With the support of the SICAP team, participants were guided throughout the process, from accessing training to planning next steps toward employment or further upskilling. Achieving the 3-Year Security Licence now enables participants to apply for roles within the private security industry and engage with employers locally and nationally.
This programme reflects SICAP’s core objective of supporting social inclusion through targeted, person-centred interventions that respond to real labour market opportunities. By reducing financial and access barriers, CCLD continues to support individuals to build sustainable futures for themselves and their families.
CCLD remains committed to working with communities, employers and funding partners to deliver practical supports that strengthen participation, employment and inclusion across County Cavan.
