Cavan Businesses: It’s time to embrace diversity!

Local employers gathered at Farnham Estate on Monday morning for our 'Maximising Value through Inclusive Employment' breakfast networking event.

Organised by Cavan County Local Development (CCLD) (SICAP & WorkAbility teams) alongside the Cavan Disability Network, the seminar shined a light on the massive commercial value, cultural benefits, and financial supports available when hiring disabled people.

Key highlights from the morning:

• Terry Hyland (CEO, CCLD) opened and closed the event, highlighting CCLD’s long-standing dedication to disability rights through WorkAbility, SICAP, and Leader programmes.

• Shane Loughlin (Farnham Estate employee & advocate) shared a powerful firsthand perspective on how meaningful employment transforms lives and elevates workplace culture.

• Conor Craven (Head of Enterprise, LEO Cavan) broke down the strong commercial and operational advantages of diverse hiring, proving that inclusion drives innovation!

• Catherine Kiernan (DSP) guided employers through available government grants, incentives, and workplace adaptation funds.

• Michelle Duffy Rudden (Future in Perspectives) brought an interactive VR experience, letting attendees step into an office environment to see how simple, practical modifications make a massive difference.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, browsed our local service provider stands, and committed to building a more inclusive workforce in County Cavan!
