CCLD Represents Cavan at Retrofit Ready National Event in Dublin

Cavan County Local Development (CCLD) was proud to be represented by Owen McConnon at the recent Retrofit Ready showcase event held at the Alex Hotel, Dublin. The event brought together leaders, policy makers, and community organisations working to support Ireland’s national retrofit ambitions.

Owen’s participation highlighted CCLD’s active role in promoting sustainable energy solutions in co. Cavan through the Retrofit Ready programme. The project, supported under the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP), aims to equip local communities and homeowners with the knowledge and confidence to engage in energy upgrades — addressing both climate targets and fuel poverty.

The event featured presentations from retrofit pioneers, collaborative project partners, and local development companies from across the country. Owen contributed insights from CCLD’s community engagement work and shared early learnings from our pilot outreach with rural homeowners and community groups.

Participation in this national platform reaffirms CCLD’s commitment to climate action through inclusive and community-led approaches. Retrofitting is not only about buildings — it’s about building trust, capacity, and opportunity across every town and village in co. Cavan.
