At Cavan County Local Development (CCLD), we are deeply honoured to be an integral part of the Local Development Companies Network (LDCN) — a national network of 45 local development companies working together to build more inclusive, resilient, and thriving communities across Ireland.
Reflecting on the Significance of Summit 2030
The recently announced “Community, Society, Economy – Summit 2030”, hosted by LDCN, is more than just a conference — it’s a powerful gathering of changemakers, policy leaders, and community voices determined to build a shared future.
Taking place over two days (30–31 October 2025) in Ballina, Co. Mayo, this inaugural summit is very much aligned with our values at CCLD: strengthening local economies, promoting social inclusion, and investing in the foundations of community-led development.
Key figures scheduled include Minister Dara Calleary, Minister Jerry Buttimer, Dr Anna Visser, Dr Anne Devlin (ESRI), Piotr Sadłocha (President, ELARD), Dr Ebun Joseph, and many more. Through expert panels, fireside discussions, and cross-sector dialogue, the Summit will explore urgent development topics — from tackling child poverty to integrating local research into national policy.
Why This Matters to CCLD
A Platform for Local Voices: As part of LDCN, our local experience and insights feed into national policy discussions. Summit 2030 gives us a seat at the table, ensuring that what we witness and learn on the ground in Cavan helps shape Ireland’s future roadmap for community development.
Partnership and Collaboration: The Summit highlights the strength of collective action — bringing together government, community development professionals, researchers, and international partners. This aligns perfectly with how we at CCLD work: in partnership, co-designing solutions with communities, and leveraging cross-sector collaboration.
Strategic Influence: With sessions on LEADER, inclusion, place-based research, and local investment, Summit 2030 reinforces LDCN’s reputation as a strategic voice for the Local Development sector. CCLD’s involvement helps amplify our impact not just locally, but nationally.
Learning & Innovation: For our team, the Summit is also an opportunity for continuing professional development — to learn from leading thinkers, bring back new insights and best practices to Cavan, and ultimately, improve our programmes for the people we serve.
Gratitude for the National Network
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks:
To LDCN for organizing this landmark Summit and for their ongoing leadership in representing the Local Development sector.
To our fellow Local Development Companies — for your dedication, your vision, and your commitment to uplifting communities across Ireland.
To our partners in government, research, and the voluntary sector — we’re grateful for your collaboration, because real community development only happens when we work together.
Being part of a national network like LDCN gives CCLD both strength and purpose. It allows us to connect local action in Cavan to a broader national movement that strives for fairness, sustainable development, and a future where every community has a voice.
Looking Ahead
As Summit 2030 approaches, we are excited for the conversations and connections that will emerge, and for how we can translate them into action here in Cavan. We look forward to reporting back on outcomes, sharing insights, and continuing to build — together — a stronger, fairer society.
Thank you for being with us on this journey.
— The CCLD Team
