Cavan County Local Development is delighted to continue supporting inclusive creativity through the Creative Cavan Art Programme, made possible with funding from the Creative Cavan Programme.

This initiative works with two Health Service Executive (HSE) Day Centres for People with Disabilities in Cavan and Virginia. Participants are currently taking part in regular art classes led by Arts Facilitator Carol Ann Farrelly, creating a welcoming space where creativity, expression and community connection can flourish.

The theme of this year’s programme is “Cavan’s Lakes and Heritage.” Participants are exploring this theme through a range of artistic activities, including the creation of models and paintings inspired by the county’s rich natural landscapes and cultural heritage. The programme encourages participants to develop new skills, express their creativity and celebrate the places that make Cavan unique.

As the programme progresses, participants will work towards a public exhibition planned for September, where their artwork will be proudly showcased to the wider community.

This project highlights the power of the arts to support inclusion, wellbeing and creative expression, while celebrating the landscapes and heritage that connect communities across the county.

Further updates will be shared as preparations for the exhibition continue.

The Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP) is co-funded by the Irish Government, through the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, and the European Social Fund Plus under the Employment, Inclusion, Skills and Training (EIST) Programme 2021 -2027.
