What happens when creativity, community spirit, and inclusion come together in one place? On Friday, 10 July 2026, Belturbet will provide the answer—through an inspiring, family-focused celebration of co. Cavan National Play Day 2026 that highlights the power of play to shape brighter futures.

Cavan Local Development (CCLD) is proud to host “Every Little Hand Can Change the World – Play For All”, a free community event taking place at the Belturbet Goods Store from 14:00 to 18:00. This initiative brings together families, local services, and community organisations in a shared commitment to inclusion, wellbeing, and child development.

A Collaborative Community Effort

This event stands as a strong example of how multi-agency collaboration can deliver meaningful impact at local level. It is organised in partnership with:

  • Ukrainian volunteers based in Belturbet

  • National Childhood Network

  • Cavan Sports Partnership

  • Cavan County Council

  • Tusla – Child and Family Agency

  • Children and Young People’s Services Committees (CYPSC)

For funding organisations and state stakeholders, this event demonstrates how coordinated, community-led approaches can effectively promote social inclusion, intercultural engagement, and access to services, particularly for families who may be more vulnerable or newly arrived in the county.

What to Expect: Play, Inclusion and Connection

Families attending can look forward to a diverse programme designed to meet the needs of all children, including those with additional needs.

Event Highlights:

  • 🎨 Arts & Crafts and Face Painting – supporting creativity and self-expression

  • 🏃 Fun Games and Active Play – promoting health and physical wellbeing

  • 🌈 Dedicated Sensory Room – ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for children with sensory needs

  • 📸 Photo Zone – capturing special moments for families

  • 🎁 Gifts, Prizes & Play Packs – encouraging continued play and learning at home

  • 🍔 Food Court – offering refreshments in a relaxed, community setting

The inclusion of a sensory-friendly space is particularly significant, reinforcing CCLD’s commitment to equitable access and ensuring that no child is excluded from participation.

Why Events Like This Matter

For families and service users, this event offers more than just an afternoon of entertainment. It provides:

  • A welcoming space to connect with others in the community

  • Opportunities to engage with local support services

  • New ideas for keeping children active and engaged over the summer

  • A sense of belonging and inclusion

For media audiences, “Play For All” presents a strong, positive story of grassroots collaboration, integration, and family support—highlighting how local initiatives can make a tangible difference in people’s lives.

For funding bodies, it exemplifies effective programme delivery that aligns with national priorities around child wellbeing, social inclusion, and community resilience.
