A significant boost for adult education and community development in County Cavan was marked with the official opening of the new Adult Guidance CMETB building at St Augustine’s — a development set to enhance opportunities for learners and strengthen regional support services.

Staff from Cavan County Local Development (CCLD) were delighted to attend the event, which offered a first look at the modern, purpose-built facilities designed to support individuals at all stages of their educational journey. The new centre reflects a strong commitment to accessible, inclusive and lifelong learning — priorities that are central to both local and national development strategies.
For funding bodies and policymakers, this investment demonstrates the continued impact of coordinated, partnership-led approaches to service delivery. By strengthening the infrastructure for adult education and guidance, the initiative directly supports national objectives around social inclusion, skills development and improving pathways to employment.
CCLD works closely with CMETB Adult Guidance services on an ongoing basis, supporting individuals to access education, training and progression opportunities. These links ensure that people — particularly those experiencing disadvantage — can receive tailored guidance, build confidence and make informed choices about their future. Through programmes such as SICAP, CCLD actively supports individuals to overcome barriers and engage with education and employment supports in their community.
From a service user perspective, the opening of this facility represents a welcoming and supportive environment where individuals can explore their goals, access guidance, and take meaningful steps toward personal and professional development. Whether returning to education, changing career direction, or building new skills, the enhanced services available will make a tangible difference.

The launch also provided an opportunity for stakeholders, community organisations and education providers to reinforce the importance of collaboration in delivering impactful services. By working together, organisations like CCLD and CMETB can ensure that supports remain accessible, responsive and aligned with the evolving needs of local communities.
CCLD looks forward to continuing this strong partnership with Adult Guidance in Cavan, supporting adult learners across the county and contributing to more inclusive, thriving communities.
