Stories For Change - The Long Way Home
Community Connections Project (CCP)
Cavan County Local Development (CCLD) were delighted to be the lead on this wonderful community project. At its heart, ‘Stories for Change’ celebrates the power of young people to create, challenge misinformation, connect and contribute to more informed, resilient and inclusive communities.

‘Stories for Change’ is a creative story-building project bringing together young people aged 14–17 from Cavan Town & Clones, Monaghan to explore the experiences, cultures and emotions that shape our communities.Through applied storytelling & story building workshops, participants explored different cultures, identity, emotions, connection and belonging, while developing the skills to recognise and counter misinformation. The project created a space where young people got to experience different perspectives, question what they encountered, build resilience, and discover how positive connections can strengthen communities.Working collaboratively, participants transformed their ideas and experiences into a creative story, exploring how we understand one another and how stories can challenge assumptions, build empathy and create stronger ‘community connections’.
This project was co-funded by Creative Cavan, Creative Monaghan & Local Creative Youth Partnership (Cavan/Monaghan)
We wish to acknowledge the collaboration work by Cavan County Local Development, Monaghan Integrated Development, The Verbal Art’s Centre, Foróige (Cavan), Youth Work Ireland (Clones).
A very special thank you to the young people of Cavan & Clones for their contribution & meaningful participation. This has significantly impacted the success of this project.
