Supporting Youth Employment in Cavan: CCLD at DSP information event targeted towards unemployed youth

CCLD was delighted to take part in this morning’s DSP WorkAbility event in Cavan Library, an important initiative supporting young people who are currently unemployed. The event brought together a range of local services working toward a shared goal: helping young people access guidance, training, and pathways to long-term employment.

Laura, representing our WorkAbility programme, engaged with attendees throughout the morning, offering information on the tailored supports CCLD provides. The event created a welcoming space for young people to explore opportunities, ask questions, and connect with services designed to help them progress.

Highlighting CCLD Programmes for Youth

Alongside WorkAbility, CCLD showcased several additional programmes available to support young people in Cavan:

  • Tús Programme

The Tús community work placement initiative offers individuals valuable work experience, skills development, and confidence-building opportunities. Many young participants use Tús as a stepping stone toward full-time employment or further training.

  • Start Your Own Business Supports

For young people with entrepreneurial ambitions, CCLD provides guidance, mentoring, and structured supports to help them explore self-employment. From developing a business idea to understanding practical requirements, our team helps participants take their first steps toward launching their own enterprise.

  • Training supports

  • Local Employment Supports & Referrals

Our team works closely with local partners, including DSP, to connect young people with the right supports at the right time.

Commitment to Youth Empowerment

At CCLD, we remain committed to empowering young people across Cavan by providing accessible programmes, personalised supports, and strong community partnerships. Today’s event highlights the collective effort of local services working together to create meaningful pathways toward employment, education, and self-development.
